Dark Forest Haunted Trail

Dare to be Scared this Halloween at Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club

Two hours south of Atlanta, Lake Blackshear Resort is waiting for you. Or this Halloween, it’s lurking around for you! Ever year the resort puts on a Halloween scare-lebration so popular that people from all over Georgia return annually to experience different themes for different screams. For out-of-town travelers, the resort put together its ghoulishly delightful Bed & Breakfast Package giving them the option of staying overnight once the experience is over.

Our family is heading down to this year’s Dark Forest Haunted Trail named Science Gone Horror-bly Wrong. That says it all. I expect to see mad scientists, unhinged creatures and burbling witches’ cauldrons. My nieces and nephews are over 13 years of age which is ideal, because this event is not advised for the youngest ones.

First, we’re booking a dog-friendly cabin by the lake. Others will be staying in the lodge, the villas, or even pitching a tent or parking the R/V in the campgrounds.

Once we get settled in to our cabin, we’ll be ready to stretch our legs by taking a walk, hopefully ending at the fire pit outside of the resort. We always meet other people sitting for a spell on a cool evening enjoying the warmth of the fire before and after dinner. Speaking of dinner, we’re planning to watch the sunset on the patio of Cypress Grill ahead of getting in line for the haunted trail.

When it gets dark, it will be time to enter the Dark Forest Haunted Trail. Admission is $15 per person and tours begin at dark and run through 10:30 pm every weekend in October and on Halloween night.

Hold your friends’ hands. Go in tight together. If it’s anything like last year, you are going to scream! I’m not sure what’s in store, but I also heard something about chainsaws.

Since I’m planning on coming the second weekend in October, it’ll be fun to follow the resort’s Facebook page @lakeblackshearresort2 to see some of the opening weekend screams

I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces this Halloween! Join us in Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele where Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club is holding one of the biggest Halloween events in the state. I’m ready to be scared out of my mind and then return to our comfortable rooms with memories of this awesome, fulfilling destination.
